July 2024 brings more light energies onto the earth via solar flares, and shifts of the Schumann Resonances, a set of spectrum peaks in the extremely low frequency portion of the Earth’s electromagnetic field spectrum. Translated as the Earth’s heartbeat, when spikes occur, many people feel the fluctuation of these electromagnetic energies in their nervous systems. it might be something to consider if you suffer from insomnia or fluctuating mental health. These energies are what I refer to when I talk about influences (changing frequencies) reflected within my artistic creations.
As in the last 2 months, I’m offering 3 short categorical updates: 1 = Blast from the Past; 2 = Influences; 3 = Currently

Part 1 – Blast from the Past (an art work I created some time in the last 45+ years).
By 1993, I’d relocated to Laramie, WY, where (little known to me), I would be for the next 27 years. Artistic creation was central to my sanity, as it was not an easy ride for me there. Continuing themes of environmental degradation, I focused on speaking on behalf of nature, that which had no voice. In this work of art, I am honoring waterfowl. So many water birds are negatively affected by draining wetlands for housing, industrial & agricultural poisoning and other side-effects of human indifference to nature. Duck Soup is an ironic juxtaposition of ancient-looking ducks, floating in ‘blue water’, within a container, suggestive of a pot, lake, or serving bowl. The vessel is raised up, redolent of a chalice, a sacred container. The vessel and base are in an elliptical form, a Vesica Pisces. This shape, created by the partial overlap if 2 circles, has been found in prehistoric art, early Christianity, and pagan imagery, often representing the divine, creation, and fertility. We observe it as the energetic, auric field surrounding a spiritual avatar, like Mother Mary; here the shape signifies the water, earth and all life forms within, to be sacred. The mirrored based allows for the reflection of the observer, a clue that what we do to nature, we do to ourselves. The 4 ducks converge, communicating, perhaps sending SOS signals to folks like me, that tune into their plight. Underlying the comic content of title, ‘Duck Soup’ is a serious reveal of human disregard that displaces, diminishes or eliminates wild creatures and the health of Earth. I align with native wisdom, that make decisions in consideration of the health and well-being of 7 generations into the future, and hold all life to be a part of the sacred wheel.

Part 2 – Influences = Contributing to my evolution as an artist; could be a person, place, process… etc.
An ever-present longing for me is to be in nature, in a very physical way. It grounds me, facilitates a
spiritual connection, and downgrades my ego’s perspective, which I recognize, proliferates in social situations. Photography helped me ‘see’ what is often invisible: we expand our vision when we change our point of focus, as in the case of looking at the surface of a body of water. The reflections reveal so much more than the physical landscape we typically reinforce as reality. Blurring our focus can catapult us into a reality revolution. In many ways, a reflection allows us to see the transitory nature of matter and the universe; it gives us pause to reconsider the ‘truth’ of the crisp replica of what we see with our eyes – eyes that are socially conditioned to reinforce a specific version of truth. I’m also fascinated by influences of mythic stories: the human relationship to various layers of nature, non-human beings (from hybrid creatures to god/desses, angels and inter-planetary beings). Perhaps there are faeries in the watery landscape above! Being in nature always presents me with opportunities to question my interpretations of reality. Art and creativity inspire a shift of perception, encouraging more flexibility, allowing me to flow more, and to not become too fixated on my beliefs. How do you practice not believing everything you think?

Part 3 – Currently (what am I exploring NOW)
The art I’m creating now are of imaginary ‘landscapes’, replete with symbols vested with a variety of meaning. Today, I focus on the Door, a prominent symbolic presence in my current Series of artworks; essentially, it acts as an entrance into a new vision of earth, life and self. This gateway represents an invitation, a reminder that we always have the power to change; it is a choice. I’ve selected photos of ancient doors (from my world travels), the shapes of which have a powerful otherworldly resonance. At this time of societal breakdown, the percolation of AI into all spheres of life, and intensifying cosmic frequencies on our planet, we are ripe with potential for personal (and planetary,) shift. The Door, as a portal from one state of Being to another, reveals a shift from ego perspective, to a panoramic comprehension of experience. If we choose to travel through the portal, the promise of metamorphosis into an upgraded version of our self, emerges. We begin by accepting the invitation to enter the mystery; to be courageous and step across the threshold of fear. The summons to live a life founded on compassion, new belief systems, profoundly changes our ‘reality’. This may mean shifting relationships, professions, living situations, as we recognize and release all that holds us as prisoner. The invitation is to heal our wounds through time and space, take responsibility for everything we have created; we can then examine what holds true value now and choose to manifest a life based on those values. The lotus speaks to our inner beauty, having surfaced through the muck of challenging experiences; the hands both uplift and protect this new realm that awaits.
Will you pass through the portal? Have you already? What are you beholding, living, supporting in your New Reality?
